Vitamin D Deficiency Increases Vulnerability in Covid-19 Sufferers, New Study Reveals

A new study of 216 Spanish patients has revealed a correlation between Vitamin D deficiency and inflammatory markers signifying venerability when fighting an infection. Researchers found that of the 216 tested, 82% had a Vitamin D deficiency, with men overall more affected than women.

Patients who were tested in the Spanish university (Marques de Valdecilla, hospital in Spain) showed increased serum levels of inflammatory markers which consists of ferritin and D-dimer when patients had low levels of Vitamin D.

In continuation, researchers have not found a direct link between the levels of Vitamin D and the severity of Covid-19. This includes the needs of being taken to intensive care, as well as ventilation or death.

Previous studies show that an acceptable amount of Vitamin D should reduce the severity of Covid-19.
