Rough sleepers increased by 28,000

Rise of homeless people is counting five times higher than official figures.

Over the past 12 months more than 28,000 thousand people have been recorded sleeping rough in the UK.

The Night Shelter in Ealing said the rise of rough sleepers have slightly risen since last year, as they have received more people applying for their services and there’s not enough places available for them. Over the week they are accepting 14 people, as they have a maximum of 14 beds available.

Also mentioning that the government counts the rise of homelessness by taking a one night snapshot survey of people sleeping in the shelters but many rough sleepers may be staying outside, failing to count the exact figure.

However, the government said it is providing £500m for homelessness and rough sleeping services this year as official figures mention there’s been a rise of 165% of people sleeping rough in England since 2010.
