Prince Andrew dropped by sponsors

A number of corporate partners and sponsors have severed ties with the Duke of York and The Royal Family. This follows Prince Andrew’s BBC Newsnight interview which was called a “car crash” by critics.

Sponsors lost by the Duke of York and Royal Family include British banking and financial service, Standard Chartered, and accountancy firm KPMG, one of the first companies to sponsor the Duke’s Palace event, which celebrated the work of entrepreneurs.

The prince stands by his decision to speak out on his friendship with Jeffrey Epstein and deny a sexual relationship with Virginia Roberts but law Professor Jonathon Turley of Washington University says the interview puts him in a “precarious position” if he plans to visit the United States any time soon and if lawyers representing his accusers had access to him.

The University of Huddersfield have also passed a motion for the Prince to resign as the university’s chancellor. A board meeting to discuss his position will be held over the next few days.
