Poppy Themed Pelican Crossing Installed in Richmond

A poppy-themed pelican crossing has been installed outside The Poppy Factory on Petersham Road.

It has been placed to mark Remembrance Day on Sunday 8th November, and has been created to serve as a timely reminder of those who lost their lives or family members.

The Poppy Factory moved to the borough of Richmond in 1925 and employed veterans with health challenges to create remembrance products, such as poppies and wreaths for the Royal British Legion and the Royal Family.

Due to the coronavirus pandemic, there will be no official parades taking place within the borough on Remembrance Sunday. People are being asked to pay their respects at home while still taking part in the two-minute silence at 11AM along with following special videos, pictures and social media coverage produced by the council.
