A pensioner says she fears for her health with 50 planes taxiing right next to her back garden at Southend Airport every day.
Janet Marchant, 67, has been living in a bungalow by the runway for seven years. She says the constant noise and smell of fumes from the aircraft is unbearable. She claims having conversations in her garden are impossible as you can't hear them and they have to pause their television every time a plane takes off.
She worries about her grandchildren coming over and the days of having a barbecue outside are over. She said she opened her curtains one morning and said to her partner: "There's a bloody great jet in our garden!" She also claimed to receive a letter from the airport telling her to stop complaining about the noise to a forum on its website.
