Westminster council has approved plans for a refurbishment of London’s Oxford Street. The scheme will see both Oxford Street improved, as well as the surrounding area.
The council has put in a hundred and fifty million pounds in funding, but an extra eighty-two million is still needed.
The plans involve lowering congestion by rerouting busses around the Oxford Circus district, pedestrianising smaller streets during certain times of the day, and reducing the speed limit from thirty miles per hour to twenty.
A further business case to discuss the detailed delivery schedule is set to take place during the next cabinet meeting on the 8th April.
