Over 1 Million attend March for a People’s Vote

LONDON – Over one million people joined the Brexit protest march on Saturday, according to the organizers of the event. The plan was to march from Park Lane to Parliament Square, but the massive turnout led to gridlock. Witty signs, papier-mache floats, and EU flag-wrapped dogs were all on full display as protesters drummed and chanted their way through the crowds.

The feeling of the protest was overwhelmingly positive, with few disruptions or altercations. One of our Northern Irish interviewees was met with support from the crowd when he mentioned his hometown of Belfast. Drummers led some smaller groups, including a large float of Theresa May’s head with a pinocchio nose. Chants of “We demand a People’s Vote”, and “No May, no Brexit, no racist EU exit” could be heard moving throughout the throngs of people shuffling towards Parliament Square.

At two o’clock, speakers including Tony Blair, Alistair Campbell, and Nicola Sturgeon took the stage. By three o’clock, a large banner was unfurled over the crowd to catch the eye of the circling helicopters. It read, “If a democracy cannot change its mind, it ceases to be a democracy. - MP David Davis.”
