Local schools are expected to face a barrage of new child protection and mental health problems when they reopen. More children are being taken into care, obesity and other health issues are on the rise and children have suffered a significant loss in the education.
A spokeswoman for the department of education said: “We want children back in schools as soon as possible because being with teachers and friends is so important for their education and well-being”.
