The Met police have arrested a man accused of raping a teenage girl yesterday near North place, Colliers Wood.
The police received a report that a teenage girl was abducted by a man on her way to school in Mitcham. The victim was seen by a young girl on her way to school, who called her mum and sister after deeming it ‘suspicious’ . A clip of the horrific incident trended on social media allowing many to identify the man as Kadian Nelson, who has now become a suspect.
The suspect was later arrested, after the Met police received a call from a member of the public. The arrest took place on Robinson Road, Tooting, last night. The man is in police custody.
The victim and her family have been notified of the arrest, and the public have been warned about sharing any information that could potentially identify the alleged victim or affect any judicial proceedings.
The video lead to Scotland Yard releasing a statement which says"“We also further remind people to please be mindful of sharing information via social media that could identify the alleged victim, or affect any potential future proceedings.” After videos of men showed up outside Nelson's home
Mitcham and Morden MP Siobhain McDonagh said “The extraordinary bravery of a lady who followed and filmed them has almost certainly saved the victim from even further distress”. Also, mentioning the importance the video had on providing the police with extremely important evidence.
