A festival dedicated to all things caffeinated came to London for the weekend. From the 28th to the 31st of March, London Coffee Festival returned to The Old Truman Brewery for its ninth year in trendy East London’s Brick Lane.
Various tastings, talks, workshops, and live music celebrated London’s vibrant coffee culture. Running over four days, Europe’s largest gathering of “cofficianados” had so much to see and experience that it was almost impossible to take everything in.
Twenty world class baristas battled it out in a series of latte-art and difficult order making competitions, fighting it out to be awarded the title of Coffee Master and a £5,000 prize. Rob Clarijs won this year, with only 1.16 points between himself and runner-up Jimmy Dimitrov.
If you missed it this year, I would certainly recommend booking your tickets for next year’s festival when they go on sale. Over the course of the weekend I drank copious amounts of coffee and cocktails, and engaged in activities with the biggest roasters in the country.
I also discovered so many new brands and products, and collected more free samples than I could hold in my free branded tote bag- I’m going to be drinking free coffee for the rest of the year! And where else can anybody submerge themselves in a ball-pit the shape of a cappuccino cup to raise money for charity!?
