How effective is the new Low Traffic Neighbourhood scheme?

The introduction of the new Low Traffic scheme is to help reduce vehicle traffic and cut pollution while making cycling and walking safer on the streets. Nine installments are to be made throughout the London Borough of Ealing.

Ealing council’s new Low Traffic Neighbourhood scheme is preventing residents from receiving help during crucial moments. An incident in Northfields where a man needed medical attention was said by residents to have taken 20 additional minutes.

The scheme introduces a one-way access to certain streets by blocking the roads with bollards and flowerbeds to reduce traffic in keys areas such as around schools. Ealing Council has said that there have been no formal objections to the scheme and that key services have been given keys to unlock access.
