Greenford Leisure Centre plans languish

Plans to renovate Greenford’s Gurnell Leisure Centre have dramatically fallen through.

The development company Willmott Dixon has pulled out at the last minute. The plan would have seen Ealing Council invest thirty-eight million pounds to rebuild the aging centre, along with new housing for up to eight hundred residents.

This plan was met with controversy and some local residents believed that this would be an overdevelopment for the area, citing concerns about traffic and crowding.

The centre would have featured a fifty metre swimming pool, an upgraded gym, and a café.

The project’s future is uncertain, as there have been no official announcements since the plan collapsed.
