Goldsmiths University of London have banned selling beef products, in order to help tackle the climate emergency.
Beef and cows are one of the highest emitters of Carbon Monoxide each year, with nearly a quarter of all greenhouse gasses coming from the agricultural industry.
This step from Goldsmiths is one of the first that the university has planned in order to make more of an impact on climate change.
As well as removing all beef products from eateries present on the university campus, there will also be an additional 10p charge added to the sale of bottled water and plastic cups for students and staff.
From the 1st December, Goldsmiths will also stop their investments in any companies that get more than 10% of their revenue from fossil fuels. They are also planning to switch to a clean energy supplier as soon as their current contract ends.
These steps are part of the ongoing process for Goldsmiths to become completely carbon neutral by the year 2025.
