Earls Court Road has been recorded as the most polluted street in London, a report by environmental campaigners 'Friends of the Earth' has found
The eco-group recorded the highest levels of Nitrogen Dioxide in the atmosphere around the underground station. The pollution level outside the station was more than three times higher than the governments target.
The pollution levels were so high that they frequently left visible marks on clothing, while a number of locals that were interviewed said they suffer from respiratory problems. Last year air pollution cost the NHS and social care an estimated 157 million pounds. This came after the Mayor of London began setting in motion the first 24 hour Ultra Low Emission Zone in the world.
Residents have also said they try to avoid opening their windows.
