Black History Month has already begun with great celebration and has plenty more to come. Throughout Black History Month many local councilors are celebrating the history, heritage and culture of the African and Caribbean community. London Borough of Croydon are exploring black history and mental health and are opening on conversations on generational trauma within the black community.
Alongside this, London Borough of Richmond upon Thames are challenging prejudices and behaviors that impact the lives of the local people. Richmond council are carrying out a study submission to find out from the public’s personal experience with racism. The Council is also appealing for residents to come forward and help shape an exhibition which will include stories, experiences, photographs and videos. Stories will explore family histories, traditions, achievements, cultures and experiences of racism. The exhibition will be shared online and in public spaces around the borough.
More information has been displayed on the Black History Month website with all information about events across Greater London with location, time and events details.
