British Airways to Start Pre-Flight Testing Trial

British Airways announced that they will test passengers for Covid-19, as an attempt to prove the UK's quarantine policy should be discarded. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, some travellers arriving in the UK are requested to self-isolate for 14 days. The airline is convinced the testing data will prove that a single test 72 hours prior to a flight is enough to understand they will not have to quarantine. The air travel company insists the flights are “safe” and there have been only a few reports of Covid-19 transmission on commercial flights.

The Chief executive Sean Doyle has said the UK is ‘left behind’ as other countries such as Germany have adopted new testing measures to avoid quarantine policies.

Mr. Doyle mentioned the testing trial will occur in a voluntary regime in partnership with American airlines. Passengers will be tested three days before their flight as well as on arrival at Heathrow airport in West London, and three days after their flight.

The trial will start on 25 November for flights from Los Angeles, Dallas, and New York. The airline company has announced the trial results will be shared with the UK and US governments.
