Petrol and diesel journeys in Brent should be as “close to zero as possible” by 2030, according to the council.
Brent Council hopes to have halved petrol and diesel journeys by this deadline . The council will put out policies in aims to help tackle poor air quality and high pollution levels.
The council also wants to reduce waste among its population, create more energy efficient homes and buildings, and make Brent “one of the greenest, most biodiverse and climate-resilient boroughs in London.
Cllr Krupa Sheth, Head of environment at Brent Council, said: “The strategy requires a joint effort from everyone – all the departments in the council, as well as all our residents, businesses, schools and communities. “Success also hinges on national government showing leadership and committing the right resources at a local level.” Brent council ensure no residents health and safety will be compromised.
