With a million-young people under the age of 25 expected to be out of work by November this year, the thirst for work experience has never been so important in the search for a job.
However, businesses which offer internship programs for longer than four weeks put untold pressure on low income students who cannot afford to live without a wage for this period of time.
Byte News spoke exclusively with Alex Cunningham, Labour MP for Stockton North, about his new private members bill looking to ban long term unpaid work experience. In his interview he says there are signs of strong cross-party support with both Labour and Conservative MPs broadly agreeing to his bill.
