Academy Sends Entire Year 11 Group Home Due to Covid

On the 16th November, year 11 students from the Kingston Academy were instructed to work home for two weeks after a student tested positive for coronavirus. It is believed 50 students were close to contact with the student; this led to students within the year to be sent home.

The year 11 mock exams begin on Monday 30th November. The academy is doing everything it can to provide ongoing education to these pupils to ensure they have all resources they need before their mock exams.

All year 11 students are now doing their full timetabled lessons remotely, the academy is ensuring that all students receive equal and fair teaching before their exams take place, by ensuring every student gets the same type of learning online.

The head-teacher Ms Sophie Cavanagh wrote a letter to all parents from the year group updating them about this. Mrs Sophie Cavanagh says, “staff are seeking to protect the quality of teaching and learning provision for all Year 11 pupils in the lead up to their GCSE mock examinations,”

The cases within the school remain low, and safeguarding is taken very seriously within the school community throughout this challenging time. The academy is refusing to release any further information.
